Fiona obtained her MChem degree in Medicinal Chemistry with Pharmacology from the University of Liverpool. She stayed at the University of Liverpool for her PhD which focused on the preparation of branched polymers for drug delivery, with Prof. Steve Rannard.

After her PhD studies, she joined the Division of Coating Technology, KTH Royal Institute of Technology as a postdoctoral researcher. During this time she worked primarily on cellulose modification with bio- and synthetic polymers with Assoc. Prof. Anna Carlmark and Prof. Eva Malmström. In 2016, she returned to the UK to begin a postdoctoral position with Prof. Steve Armes at the University of Sheffield, preparing functional polymer colloids.

Fiona joined the Department of Materials at Loughborough University in September 2018 as a Lecturer in Polymer Chemistry, her staff profile can be found here. She is a member of the RSC Biomaterials Chemistry Group committee, the Joint Colloids Group committee and a founding member of the Early Career Colloid committee.
