Beth graduated with a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Nottingham in 2020, and then went onto complete a MRes at the University of Nottingham with the Howdle group. This project focused on producing novel random and block copolymers from bio-based monomers using RAFT polymerisation.

Currently, Beth is a PhD student in the Materials department and her PhD project is part of the multidisciplinary Plastrax group looking into microplastics. Beth’s individual project is focusing on the production of microplastic mimics using  RAFT polymerisation and polymer induced self-assembly (PISA) in order to produce different polymer morphologies. Then using these mimics to determine how they act in cells and in rivers.

Beth is co-supervised by Dr Edwin Baynes and Dr Brian Cousins.
